Yoshida Brothers: Tsugaru-jamisen duo musician

Yoshida Brothers are the most famous Tsugaru-jamisen musician in the world. Elder brother, Ryoichiro Yoshida, and younger brother, Kenichi Yoshida from Hokkaido, Japan started to playing at very young age, adn debuted in 1999 in Japan.

 

Their music has been a fusion of the rapid and percussive Tsugaru-jamisen style along with Western and other regional musical influences. In addition to performing songs that are only on the shamisen, they also use instruments such as drums and synthesizers.

Tsugaru-jamisen (kanji: 津軽三味線, hiragana: つがるじゃみせん) or Tsugaru-shamisen (hiragana: つがるしゃみせん) refers to both the Japanese genre of shamisen music originating from Tsugaru Peninsula in present-day Aomori prefecture and the instrument it is performed with.
