A few weeks ago, on September 16th 2016, Taiyaki NYC opened in Chinatown of New York, and there is already a long line in front of the store. Taiyaki NYC serves ice cream in new invented cones inspired from Japanese traditional dessert, Taiyaki.
You can choose your ice cream flavor from vanilla, chocolate, green tea, black sesame, and your filling from custard cream and red bean paste. One Taiyaki ice cream is for $7.
Taiyaki (鯛焼き , literally “baked sea bream”) is a Japanese fish-shaped cake. The most common filling is red bean paste that is made from sweetened azuki beans.
